Jan was born in 1999 in Wiesbaden, Germany. He first pursued a Bachelor of Science in Business Education and parallely completed a Bachelor of Science in Economics at the University of Mannheim, where he also obtained his Master of Science in Economics. In September 2025, he joined the Chair of Environmental Microeconomics at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz as a doctoral researcher.

During his studies, he worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Quantitative Economics at the University of Mannheim and at the Chair of Environmental Microeconomics at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. He also completed an internship at the RWI – Leibniz Institute for Economic Research in Essen, in the “Umwelt & Ressourcen” competence area. In addition, he supervised undergraduate tutorials in mathematics at the University of Mannheim.

In both his Bachelor’s and Master’s theses, Jan worked with data from the ARIADNE-Project. His Bachelor’s thesis empirically examined the factors influencing individuals’ decisions to undertake energy-efficient building renovations, while his Master’s thesis conducted an empirical causal analysis of how the 2022 energy crisis affected public acceptance of climate policy measures in Germany.

His research interests lie in Environmental Economics, Energy Economics, and Public Economics, as well as generally in applied empirical research.
In his free time, Jan enjoys jogging, playing football, and reading.
